Site Reliability Manager
We're partnering with a well-established technology organisation to recruit an experienced Site Reliability Manager to lead the operational support and continuous improvement of a large-scale, business-critical production environment.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll combine technical expertise with people management, leading a high-performing team while driving platform reliability, operational excellence and incident management across a modern cloud environment.
If you enjoy solving complex technical challenges, improving system resilience and mentoring technical teams, this is an opportunity to make a genuine impact.
The Role
As Site Reliability Manager, you'll take ownership of production operations, ensuring critical platforms remain stable, secure and highly available. You'll lead a team of Site Reliability Engineers / Application Support Specialists while working closely with Engineering, Infrastructure, Product and Operations teams to continually improve reliability, automation and support processes.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and developing a team of Site Reliability Engineers / Application Support professionals.
- Owning the day-to-day operational performance of critical production platforms.
- Managing major incidents, coordinating cross-functional technical teams and driving timely resolution.
- Performing technical investigations involving SQL, application logs, APIs and application code.
- Driving root cause analysis and implementing long-term improvements to reduce recurring issues.
- Improving monitoring, alerting, observability and operational reporting.
- Identifying automation opportunities to improve efficiency and reliability.
- Building strong relationships with technical and business stakeholders.
- Ensuring operational processes align with governance, security and compliance requirements.
About You
We're open to experienced Site Reliability Engineers, Platform Engineers or Senior Application Support professionals who are ready to take the next step into leadership. Previous formal people management experience isn't essential, what matters most is your technical capability, ownership mindset and ability to lead from the front during critical incidents.
You'll bring:
- Strong experience within Site Reliability Engineering, Platform Engineering or complex Production/Application Support environments.
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during high-pressure incidents.
- Advanced SQL skills and experience investigating complex application and database issues.
- Experience supporting cloud-based platforms within Azure or AWS.
- The ability to understand application architecture, microservices, APIs and dependencies across complex enterprise environments.
- Experience reading or troubleshooting .NET applications.
- Exposure to modern observability and monitoring platforms such as Datadog, Splunk or Sumo Logic.
- A genuine ownership mentality. You'll become the technical owner of the Australian platform and be the key escalation point for critical issues.
- Strong stakeholder communication skills and the confidence to coordinate technical teams during major incidents.
Experience within highly regulated industries such as financial services, payments, insurance or similar environments will be highly regarded.
What's on Offer
- Very flexible working arrangements
- Opportunity to lead a highly capable technical team.
- Exposure to large-scale, business-critical platforms.
- A collaborative, supportive culture focused on continuous improvement.
