Legal and Compliance Specialist

Our client is a premier hedge fund manager with a dedicated focus on global technology investments. Currently in an exciting phase of expansion, they are seeking a high-caliber Legal and Compliance Specialist to join their team-not as a pure gatekeeper, but as a strategic partner who drives governance and operational excellence across the investment lifecycle.

The Role:

This is a high-visibility position where you will operate at the intersection of investment execution and regulatory integrity. You will collaborate closely with portfolio managers, external counsel, and operations teams, gaining exposure to complex, cross-border technology deals while playing a pivotal role in safeguarding the firm's compliance framework.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transaction Support: Deliver critical legal and compliance support for private and public equity transactions, spanning due diligence through to execution.
  • Regulatory Management: Take ownership of key regulatory processes, including business restructuring, license applications, account openings, and compliance approvals.
  • Policy & Governance: Draft, update, and implement robust compliance policies and procedures that evolve with shifting global regulations.
  • Process Innovation: Lead process-enhancement initiatives alongside internal stakeholders to streamline workflows and proactively mitigate risk.
  • Due Diligence & Review: Assist with transaction due diligence, review legal documentation, and manage the onboarding of vendors and systems.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in compliance, legal, or regulatory roles within the financial services industry (hedge fund, asset management, or investment banking preferred).
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Strong grasp of Hong Kong's regulatory framework, including SFC licensing and compliance obligations.
  • Industry Exposure: Familiarity with private equity, public equity, or technology sector transactions is a distinct advantage.
  • Education: Law degree or relevant professional qualification (e.g., LLB, JD, or compliance certifications) highly regarded.
  • Soft Skills: Proactive, detail-oriented, and solution-driven with excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Language: Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in Cantonese and/or Mandarin is a plus.
  • Mindset: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with the ability to manage multiple priorities and exercise sound judgment.
