Role Context :



The Transactional Banking Technology portfolio owns the delivery of Corporate Transactional Banking application features on the core banking platform, while integrating with specialist enterprise platforms for payments processing, cards, digital channels, onboarding, client enablement and operations. The engineering pod is based in India and consists of one Senior Software Engineer and two Software Engineers, all functionally reporting into the Head of Transactional Banking Technology.



All engineers in this pod require practical Mambu experience or exposure and Finacle experience or exposure, aligned to the immediate core banking platform delivery agenda and future platform evolution path.



We are seeking a highly experienced engineer with a proven track record of delivering complex technology solutions and driving technical outcomes across the software delivery lifecycle. The role carries significant responsibility for shaping solutions, making key technical decisions, and ensuring successful delivery and operational excellence.



Operating with a high degree of autonomy, the successful candidate will exercise sound technical judgement in complex or ambiguous situations, influence technical direction, and drive alignment across teams and stakeholders. Responsibility extends to leading the design of significant features and systems, managing cross-functional dependencies, and balancing delivery priorities with scalability, resilience, security and long-term maintainability.



Alongside strong hands-on engineering capability, the role plays an important part in developing the broader engineering organisation. This includes mentoring engineers, influencing engineering standards and best practices, constructively challenging approaches, and fostering a culture of quality, accountability and continuous improvement. Success in this role requires the ability to engage credibly with senior engineering leaders, architects, product teams and business stakeholders, translating strategic objectives into robust technical solutions. A key aspect of the position is identifying risks early, influencing decision-making, and contributing to the evolution of technology strategy and engineering standards across the organisation. This position is suited to engineers who have demonstrated success in leading complex technical programmes, influencing technical strategy, and delivering results through both personal contribution and technical leadership of others.




Key Responsibilities :

1. Technical leadership for the India engineering pod

Act as the technical lead for the India engineering pod without formal line management responsibility unless subsequently assigned.



Guide feature-level solution design and engineering decisions.



Mentor Software Engineers and promote consistent engineering standards across the pod.



Act as the primary technical counterpart to the Head of Transactional Banking Technology and Technical Product Owner.

1. Core banking platform delivery

Build and integrate application capabilities using Mambu and Finacle-aligned patterns.



Develop services and integration components that consume and extend core banking functionality.



Understand core banking constructs including accounts, product configuration, fees, interest, limits, overdrafts, servicing and transaction processing.



Support future platform evolution by building clean, maintainable and well-documented services.

1. Platform integration

Integrate transactional banking services with payments, cards, digital channels, onboarding, client enablement and operational systems.



Develop API-first and event-aware integration patterns where appropriate.



Support reliability, observability and resilience across integrated solutions.



Work collaboratively with platform teams to manage dependencies and resolve cross-system issues.

1. Engineering excellence

Write clean, secure, maintainable and testable code.



Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions and continuous improvement activities.



Use automated testing, CI/CD, DevOps and monitoring practices to improve quality and speed.



Contribute to documentation and knowledge sharing across the squad.

1. AI-enabled engineering

Champion practical AI-enabled engineering practices across the pod.



Use AI-assisted engineering tools responsibly as part of day-to-day delivery.



Apply AI to improve coding, testing, documentation, troubleshooting, refactoring and knowledge management.



Stay abreast of AI capabilities relevant to software engineering and banking technology.



Operate within responsible AI, security and regulatory expectations.



Coach Software Engineers in effective use of AI-enabled development practices.

1. Collaboration and delivery

Work closely with the Technical Product Owner, Head of Transactional Banking Technology, architects, platform teams and other engineers.



Participate actively in refinement, estimation, planning, demos and retrospectives.



Raise delivery risks, dependencies and technical concerns early and clearly.



Connect engineering decisions to client outcomes, operational readiness and long-term maintainability.
