The position

This senior role is heading Saxo's Marketing function in our Tokyo office, while being fully integrated into the global Marketing organisation in Copenhagen HQ. It is a business-critical role - both in terms of strategy and execution - with the responsibility to devise, plan, implement and maintain marketing, communications and PR strategies that support the local growth ambitions and global business strategy.

As our Japanese Head of Marketing and responsible for key client journeys of branding & media, website & leads as well inspiration & content, you will focus on developing Saxo's Private/Retail business in Japan, but you will occasionally support key Institutional initiatives where relevant. You will be a key member of the Marketing and Commercial team, reporting to COO and Local Head of Mission Control, Japan.

You will execute the Japanese marketing strategy, calendar, budget, and media plan with the key objective to grow new and existing business in Japan, and to evolve Saxo's way of doing marketing in a priority market for the Group.

The role is located at our Tokyo office and will lead a team of two marketing and communication professionals, while coordinating HQ functions for content production, media buying and web development.

Reporting to: COO and Local Head of Mission Control, Japan

Responsibilities:
  • Ownership of local marketing planning based on overall business strategy and local office priorities.
  • Custodian of our global brand and responsibility to develop our brand perception and awareness in Japan
  • Responsibility and accountability for the local marketing budget, ensure that it is deployed to achieve maximum ROI across all marketing activities and channels (supported by central Media team)
  • Responsibility for client acquisition (growth strategy: new clients, new deposits, NewBiz revenue) primarily via digital performance marketing.
  • Go-to-market planning in relation to global and local commercial roadmaps (e.g. new product or feature launches, pricing initiatives, or marketing campaigns)
  • Scoping, planning, and executing marketing initiatives in close collaboration with our HQ Marketing Department and internal agency.
  • Use analysis of online marketing channels and web analytics to grow the lead generation engine and improve conversion rates from ad to web to lead capture
  • Improve marketing full-funnel efficiencies via constant optimization
  • Oversee and develop influencers, key opinion leaders (KOL), affiliates, and strategic alliances (e.g. with broker comparison portals or trader/investor communities)
  • Provide local insights on competition, media, legislative environment, as well as market and industry development
  • Effective and complete briefing of marketing initiatives
  • Marketing business case development (based on budget, media mix, volume and conversion rate assessment)
  • Collaborate with creative, web, and PR teams to execute marketing initiatives from brief to go-live
  • Collaborate with paid media team on channel mix, budget allocation, performance optimization and tracking
  • Lead and develop an efficient and client-centric regional marketing team (responsible for staffing, performance reviews, salary negotiations, etc.)
  • Improve regional efficiencies in terms of knowledge sharing and scaling of initiatives and capabilities across region.
  • Prepare and coordinate physical events to help build out our brand.

What you need to succeed :
  • Solid knowledge of the financial industry and investment services
  • Experience with marketing campaign planning, execution and evaluation
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills to navigate a complex corporate environment and C-level counterparts
  • In-depth understanding of digital and offline marketing for client acquisition
  • Knowledge of most common ad engines (e.g. Sprinklr, LinkedIn Campaign Manager, Meta Business Manager, Smartly, Google Ads, Google DV360, Google SA360) - a central Media team will support in the execution, but familiarity with these tools is advantageous
  • Ability to make decisions based on performance analytics and comfortable with analytical tools such as Adobe Analytics and PowerBi
  • Results-driven with a passion for data and performance optimization
  • Experience in partnership, influencer, KOL, affiliate marketing with strong local network
  • Outstanding project management skills. You thrive in complexity and can manage numerous projects and collaborators at the same time
  • You are highly structured and you can set clear plans and goals for your team and collaborators
  • You are fluent in Japanese and English and can navigate an international and diverse company
  • You are motivated by working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment with ambitious goals
