Marketing Team Lead, Japan

Adyen is looking for an experienced, strategic self-starter with a proven track record in B2B marketing. This role will work from our Tokyo office and report directly to the VP Marketing, APAC based in Singapore.

The Marketing Lead, Japan is responsible for creating Adyen's marketing strategy in order to drive marketing goals with a heavy focus on new customer acquisition, spanning positioning and demand generation across owned, earned and paid channels. You will serve as a conduit between local commercial leadership teams and marketing teams on regional and global level.

The ideal candidate has a strong commercial mindset, is motivated to form an intimate understanding of Adyen's business model and commercial organization and excellent communication skills. We are looking for an experienced marketer who thrives in an international environment, and who is passionate about coaching marketers to create successful programs throughout the funnel.

What you'll do:
  • Lead on goal setting, planning, spend allocation and team planning in Japan together with APAC marketing lead and local commercial leadership
  • Position Adyen across a wide set of industries with a core focus on acquiring new customers through a strong integrated marketing strategy
  • Collaborate with regional & global marketing & communications teams, designers, product managers, subject matter experts, and external influencers and agencies to produce inspiring marketing programs
  • Be the local market expert, and work closely with regional APAC marketing & communications team (Campaigns, Digital Marketing, Events, Content, PR) to surface country insights and customer success stories, aligning to ensure consistency in brand identity and narratives
  • Work closely with cross-functional stakeholders (Sales, SDR, Account Management, APAC Marketing) to identify target accounts together with SDR and Sales, and build and segment lists based on market priorities.
  • Drive and manage local media buying through either direct deals and/or agencies to support acquisition goals. Includes planning and optimizing marketing campaigns across paid digital media, email and owned channels
  • Leverage analytics tools to determine effectiveness of campaigns across all touchpoints.
  • Collaborate with digital marketing teams on local website pages and ongoing SEO optimisations.
  • Coach the marketing team on individual as well as organizational team goals in line with business objectives

Profile & Qualifications:
  • At least 7 years experience in marketing strategy, digital marketing, demand generation, event management, content management or field marketing
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, which allow you to quickly build rapport with teams across different markets
  • You like to understand the ROI of marketing activities and foster an iterative way of working and learning to drive strong results.
  • A strategic and commercial mindset, with a proven track record of liaising with commercial functions to deliver impactful marketing programs
  • A respected and trusted leader with experience in coaching and developing teams to perform at their best capacity
  • Strong communication skills in both Japanese and English (verbal and written)
