Engineering Delivery Lead
Job Title: Engineering Delivery Lead (Claims Product Team)
Reporting to: Enterprise Products Manager
Position Type: Permanent
Hybrid, minimum 3 days in the office per week.
Overview:
Why Tokio Marine HCC?
Standing still is not an option in the current world of Insurance. TMHCC is one of the world's leading Specialty Insurers. With deep expertise in our chosen lines of business, our unparalleled track record and a solid balance sheet, TMHCC evaluates and manages risk like no one else in the industry. Looking beyond profit, empowering our people and delivering on our commitments are at the core of our customer values, along with a desire to grow and provide creative and innovative solutions to our clients.
This role sits within: IT
We are the foundation for TMHCC's success - enabling the business to grow, compete, and innovate through technology, security, and solution design. From shaping strategy to delivering resilient operations, we ensure every capability is aligned to business value. Our inclusive and collaborative culture empowers everyone to explore ideas, solve meaningful challenges, and build fulfilling careers that make a real impact.
About the Opportunity
This is a pivotal leadership role within a newly formed Claims Product Team, focused on modernising and evolving the technology capability that supports claims operations.
The Engineering Delivery Lead will combine claims domain knowledge, technical delivery leadership and product-team building. They will play a critical role in shaping how the team operates, delivers value, and matures as a product-led technology capability.
The role will lead delivery across Claims Management System change, integrations, data, automation and AI-enabled initiatives, working closely with Product, Claims Operations, Business Analysis, Engineering, Architecture and Data teams.
This is not a traditional "delivery manager" role. We are seeking a leader with the drive, passion and accountability to build, inspire and elevate a team, someone who does not simply manage process, but actively removes obstacles, solves problems, and creates momentum. This role is not suited to someone whose experience is primarily limited to project coordination, status reporting or agile ceremony management. We are looking for a technically credible delivery leader who can understand the claims domain, challenge solution approaches, work through ambiguity and help build a modern product engineering capability around claims technology.
As a newly evolving product capability, this role offers the opportunity to define ways of working, embed engineering excellence, expand capability, and establish a high-performing team that delivers measurable value to the business. This is an opportunity for someone who wants to build, not simply inherit. The successful candidate will need to be energised by ambiguity, confident creating structure, and motivated by the opportunity to shape the team, its engineering practices and its long-term impact.
A key focus of the Claims Product Team will be the use of automation, data and AI-enabled capabilities to improve claims outcomes, operational efficiency, decision support and colleague experience. The successful candidate will be curious and confident working in this space, able to partner with business and technology teams to identify practical opportunities for automation, and capable of leading delivery in a controlled, secure and responsible way.
The Engineering Delivery Lead will work in close partnership with the Product Owner, Business Analyst(s), and squad leads to shape and execute the Claims roadmap, ensuring delivery is aligned to regulatory priorities, business strategy and technical best practice.
The Engineering Delivery Lead reports directly to the Enterprise Product Manager.

- Lead delivery across initiatives relating to or impacting Claims, including Claims Management System change, workflow optimisation, integrations, data flows, automation and AI-enabled delivery.
- Provide technical oversight to ensure solutions meet architectural, security, data governance and quality standards.
- Understand and challenge how claims platforms support operational processes such as FNOL, triage, coverage validation, reserving, payments, recoveries, approvals, document generation, MI/reporting and downstream integrations.

- Expand team capability over time, identifying skill gaps and supporting recruitment and development.
- Champion knowledge sharing, documentation discipline and reusability across the team.
- Create a team environment that is excited by claims technology, product ownership, automation and continuous improvement, rather than simply delivering assigned change.
Product & Stakeholder Partnership
- Partner closely with the Product Manager to balance regulatory demand, technical health, and strategic product evolution.
- Support Business Analysts and SMEs in shaping well-defined, deliverable outcomes.
- Manage intake and demand from multiple business lines into the Claims team.
- Provide clear, transparent reporting on delivery progress, risks, dependencies and outcomes.
- Set and manage stakeholder expectations effectively, especially in high-risk or time-sensitive regulatory scenarios.

- Design and refine a scalable agile delivery model appropriate for a growing product team.
- Drive continuous improvement in predictability, quality, and value delivery.

- Ensure delivery practices support controlled experimentation and responsible adoption of AI, automation and data-led capabilities in a regulated claims environment.
Key Skills and Experience
Essential
- Proven experience delivering technology change in insurance claims environments.
- Strong understanding of claims operational processes and the end-to-end claims lifecycle, including how technology supports claims handling, controls, reporting and operational outcomes.

- Proven experience in senior leadership of Product Engineering teams across a dispersed resource model.
- Software development experience, including in a Technical Lead or Delivery Manager role.
- Experience delivering solutions in regulated industries, ideally within insurance or financial services.
- Strong understanding of data governance principles and secure engineering practices.

- Ability to inspire, lead, and coach technical teams while fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
- Effective stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration.
- Excellent communication skills to articulate technical concepts across business and technology boundaries.
- Genuine interest in automation, AI-enabled change, data-led decision support and modern engineering practices in the claims space.
Desirable
- Experience with claims platforms such as Guidewire ClaimCenter, Sequel Claims, Pega, or comparable enterprise claims platforms.
- Experience delivering AI-enabled workflow, automation, document processing, decision support, claims analytics or operational efficiency initiatives.
- Experience building a new product team or maturing a product-led engineering capability.
- Specialty insurance or London Market experience.
- Experience integrating SaaS platforms and enterprise systems.
- Experience working with data-centric platforms or data transformation initiatives.
Leadership & Mindset
- A proactive, accountable leader who takes ownership and drives outcomes.
- Someone who actively resolves problems rather than escalating or deferring them.
- Demonstrable passion for improving teams, processes and products.
- Passion for claims technology, product-team building, automation and the opportunity to shape a new capability.
- Resilient, adaptable and comfortable operating in ambiguity.
- Able to inspire trust, energy and engagement within a team.
