Full-Stack Risk & Reporting Developer Big Bank Funding. FinTech Thinking. Our technology teams in the UK work closely with HSBC's global businesses to help design and build digital services that allow our millions of customers around the world, to bank quickly, simply and securely. We also run and manage our IT infrastructure, data centres and core banking systems that power the world's leading international bank.
Our multi-disciplined teams include: DevOps engineers, IT architects, front and back end developers, infrastructure specialists, cyber experts , as well as project and programme managers.
We work in small, agile DevOps teams with colleagues around the world from our offices at the Bluefin Building in Southwark, our global headquarters in Canary Wharf, and multiple other locations around the UK including Sheffield, Leeds, Barnsley and Birmingham.
Following extensive investment across our Technology and Digital domains and with plans for continued expansion throughout 2019 and beyond, we are currently seeking a Full-Stack Risk & Reporting Developer.
Brief overview of the business areas Fixed Income and BSM (Balance Sheet Management) IT at HSBC is a global asset class covering Front to Back IT services for 4 main business lines: BSM, Rates, Credit & Emerging Markets. It is a global team of over 400 people with a strong presence in London, Hong Kong, New York, Paris, Toronto, Guangzhou, Pune and Bangalore.
The team is responsible for:
- Pre trade systems allowing orders, market data streaming, market negotiations, algo trading, live risk
- A suite of primary trading systems, which support the trading and risk management capabilities of the desks, as well as all upstream & downstream connectivity and data feeds for all business functions
- The generation of the p&l and risk numbers for the Fixed Income and BSM business
- Tools which allow display/enrichment of data produced by relevant systems
What you will be doing; Working within the HTS Fixed Income and BSM IT team, the candidate will be working on a range of tasks including:
- Full stack development on a platform called Falcon which provides Front Office with a UI across all FI applications
- Liaising with trading over new requirements and supporting existing ones
- Working with IT colleagues around the world
Qualifications What you will bring to the role; To be successful in this role you should have proven experience within the Technology sector with knowledge of the following skills:
- Strong UI experience and proven background in delivering front end tools
- Investment banking experience helpful but not essential if willing to learn
- Strong agile and DevOps approach
- Cloud aware
- Embraces TDD and experienced with automated testing frameworks (e.g. Mocha, Chai, Jest)
- Strong with Javascript (ES7+) and/or React.js
- Sharp eye for design and adept with CSS / LESS, and BEM principals
- Willing to learn new technologies and capable of switching easily
- Strong Unix/Linux background
- Comfortable talking direct to Trading staff
- Experience of working with off shore development teams in a global environment
- Seeks solutions and is creative with it. Confronts blocking issues
- Excellent written and verbal presentation skills. Able to communicate with the relevant level of details to internal and external HSBC parties
- Engineering capabilities to value/improve/challenge any technical solution
- Good inter-personal skills, well organised and with and ability to multi-task / switch context easily
