Job Purpose


The purpose of the role is to lead the risk work stream for the Rubik project for SC Bank UK. The key responsibilities in this regard will include: Rolling out of Enterprise Risk Management Framework, Adoption of Risk Type Frameworks for the various Principal Risk Types, Setting up risk appetite and monitoring compliance, Support the CRO in running of various risk Committee and Supporting the RIR and other MIS across the various Principal Risk Types. The person will oversee the risk workstream for the wider Rubik project working with the Global Head ERM Operational Excellence and Change.

Strategy
  • Oversee development of risk parameters for SC Bank UK according to Risk Tolerance and Policy Frameworks.
  • Implement the ERMF in the UK Hub, ensuring that all aspects of this core risk management framework are effectively embedded.
  • Inform the development of business plans with the provision of cost and impairment forecasts and a balanced judgment on the external environment.
  • Contribute to the development of performance management and remuneration processes, in order to encourage the development of an appropriate risk culture and discipline.
  • Lead the global risk workstream for Rubik, ensuring considerations of risk are central to decisions around how we implement the strategic changes globally.
Business
  • Align strategy of the Risk function with business strategy and risk appetite and oversee its execution.
  • Identify, measure and monitor material risk affecting CIB and CB portfolios in the context of the external market environment.
  • Communicate the strategic intent and collective agenda for the Risk function.
  • Maintain and develop the risk capabilities, and skills to meet ongoing business needs and plans.

Processes
  • Manage and oversee the Risk Appetite process, ensuring we maintain a clear statement of risk appetite for all principal risk types which is aligned with UK Hub strategy.
  • Support line manager supervise all processes where a member of the risk function is the identified first line process owner.
  • Continuously improve the operational efficiencies and effectiveness of risk management processes in SC Bank UK.
People and Talent

  • Lead through example and help build the appropriate culture and values within the business and across the wider organization.
  • Help line manager ensure the provision of ongoing training and development of the Function's people, and ensure that holders of all critical functions are suitably skilled and qualified for their roles. Also, help with line manager with formulation of succession plans and development plans for risk staff in the region.

Risk Management
  • Support line manager to assess periodically the risk profile for the region and maintain alignment with risk appetite by rebalancing of risks or controls that may be required in response to internal and external factors.
  • Carry out stress tests and scenario programs, review the results and assess their implications. Ensure that effective management response plans are in place to respond to extreme but plausible scenarios.
  • Ensure that material risk exposures and related issues are reported to the responsible governance committees and to Group and business-level committees as appropriate.
  • Ensure country risk committees meet on a regular basis to review risk issues in compliance with governance requirements.
  • Maintain a good understanding of the requirements of key external stakeholders in respect of risk management and ensure these are well understood internally and reflected in internal procedures
  • Support line manager in maintaining delegated authorities in line with internal policies and ensure that delegations are in line with individual capabilities.
