Position Overview

Job Title: Principal Auditor

Reporting to the Chief Auditor for the IB in New York, the Principal Audit Manager (PAM) will be based in New York and be responsible for the audit coverage of US Financing and Origination businesses (specifically Credit (Financing), Debt and Equity Capital Markets, Leveraged Debt Capital Market Mergers, and Acquisition & Research). You will work in Group Audit, which runs a professional, business focused, proactive global audit function that operates with openness, integrity, and independence. You will help mitigate high level control risks in the implementation of Group Audit's strategy. Group Audit believes in the partnership model but one that is discharged with independence and integrity and this is a key message that auditors carry when dealing with clients.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • You will provide proactive management of all aspects of the US Financing and Origination audit plan in line with Group Audit's policies and audit methodology

  • You will design and implement a continuous monitoring (CM) strategy across their assigned portfolio of businesses to capture changes in the risk profile, including new and emerging risks; this will include supporting the Group Audit strategic priority of building out the department's data analytics capabilities by identifying opportunities to leverage the data analytics team

  • You will be responsible for leading the completion of a high quality risk assessment process in line with Group Audit methodology and risk owner guidance, and presenting a draft plan for their assigned portfolio to the Chief Auditor and Head of Audit

  • You will own and develop stakeholder relationships across the Investment Bank in the US, typically at the Desk Head / Business Head level up to and including Management Board

  • You will also support the Group Audit on the relevant governance for their assigned portfolio

Your Skills and Experience:

  • Previous extensive experience in financial services with significant experience in Internal Audit or Risk Management, with an advanced understanding of risk and control concepts and three lines of defense model in a large global banking institution

  • Strong business knowledge and a sound understanding of the risks and regulatory requirements across financing and origination (CRE, ABS, CSDL, ECM, DCM, LDCM, M&A, and Research)

  • A proven track record of delivery and the ability to balance multiple high profile deliverables in a fast paced business environment whilst working effectively under pressure; you will be able to proactively manage the expectations of key stakeholders and to prioritize a dynamic book of work

  • A highly effective written and oral communicator, comfortable interacting with staff of all levels on broad range of complex topics

  • Strong thorough leadership and the ability to contribute innovative and creative ideas to deliver insightful audit outcomes and to positively impact the broader department

  • You will manage a large team of auditors (over ten) from graduate analysts to vice presidents, and will be expected to demonstrate a strong focus on staff development (including creating and inclusive and empowered working environment for their team)

  • You will also promote a growth mindset by developing a culture of coaching and feedback, with a focus on learning and continuous improvement
