About the FCA and team

We regulate financial services firms in the UK, to keep financial markets fair, thriving and effective. By joining us, you'll play a key part in protecting consumers, driving economic growth, and shaping the future of UK finance services.

Enforcement & Market Oversight (EMO) is responsible for the FCA's responsibilities for market monitoring, delivery of the functions of the UK Listing Authority (UKLA) and the investigation and prosecution of misconduct using the whole spectrum of criminal, civil and administrative sanctions and remedies against firms and individuals.

The Central Digital Review Unit (CDRU) is a specialist team within Enforcement Intelligence and Specialist Services (EISS). We support Enforcement and Market Oversight (EMO) investigations by providing digital evidence review, disclosure support and specialist eDiscovery services, including e-Discovery techniques in the processing, review, and production of evidence.

CDRU supports investigation teams by reviewing large, complex and evolving collections of digital material using the eDiscovery Tool (EDT). As eDiscovery and AI technologies continue to develop, CDRU helps teams use these capabilities effectively and responsibly while maintaining robust standards of evidence review, disclosure and quality assurance.

Role Responsibilities

  • Review and assess digital material for relevance, evidential value, disclosure issues, privilege, and confidentiality across criminal, regulatory, civil, and dual-track investigations.
  • Work with investigation teams to understand case objectives and recommend proportionate and defensible approaches to eDiscovery and document review.
  • Apply sound judgement to large and complex data sets, identifying material issues, inconsistencies, review risks and matters requiring escalation.
  • Advise and support case teams in the effective use of the EDT.

Skills Required

Minimum:

  • Practical experience of investigations, litigation, evidence review or disclosure work within a regulatory, criminal, civil, serious fraud or complex financial crime environment.
  • Demonstrable experience of assessing volumes of evidential material in a regulatory, criminal, civil, serious fraud or complex financial crime environment, in accordance with the Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act 1996 (CPIA), preferably using an eDiscovery platform.
  • You currently hold Security Clearance (SC) level vetting

Essential:

  • The ability to assess large and complex collections of digital evidence accurately, applying sound judgement and recognising issues that require further consideration or escalation.
  • Capable of organising and prioritising allocated work, maintaining accurate records and delivering high-quality outputs to agreed timescales.
  • A working knowledge of disclosure principles and the Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act 1996.
  • Effective stakeholder skills, including the ability to understand different perspectives, explain complex review issues clearly and provide constructive, evidence-based advice.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively with investigation teams, legal colleagues, technical specialists, and other stakeholders
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to record review decisions and methodologies clearly and defensibly.
  • Confidence in learning and using digital systems, with the ability to adapt to evolving eDiscovery, analytical and AI-enabled technologies.

Benefits

  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Non-contributory pension (8-12% depending on age) and life assurance at eight times your salary
  • Private healthcare with Bupa, income protection, and 24/7 Employee Assistance
  • 35 hours of paid volunteering annually
  • Colleagues spend a minimum of 50% of their working time in the office each month (60% for Directors and Executive Directors) across our London, Leeds and Edinburgh offices
  • A flexible benefits scheme designed around your lifestyle
