Introduction

We are seeking an inquisitive, self-directed investor to join the Public Markets team as an Investment/Portfolio Analyst with primary responsibility for investment coverage across European Information Technology and Consumer equities. Based in London, the candidate will work directly with the Portfolio Manager and collaborate closely with colleagues in Europe, Singapore and across our global offices. This is a fundamental stock-picking role with meaningful ownership from idea generation through portfolio monitoring, while retaining awareness of market expectations, catalysts and positioning. The candidate will be expected to develop independent, differentiated views and translate research into clear and actionable investment recommendations. The role combines deep sector ownership with the opportunity to contribute to broader portfolio-level investment discussions.

Responsibilities

• Own and continuously develop public equity coverage across European Information Technology and consumer, spanning existing portfolio companies and prospective investments
• Generate original investment and divestment ideas for the portfolio, supported by a clear thesis, valuation framework, catalysts and explicit downside assessment
• Conduct rigorous bottom-up research into companies and industries, including products and services, competitive advantages, industry structure, management quality, capital allocation and long-term earnings power
• Build differentiated insight through primary research with company management, customers, competitors, suppliers, industry experts and other relevant stakeholders
• Analyse market expectations and understand where the team's view differs from consensus estimates, positioning and what is already reflected in valuation
• Maintain high-quality financial models and valuation frameworks focused on key earnings drivers, sensitivities, cash generation and intrinsic value
• Continuously monitor existing positions and proactively surface evidence that strengthens, weakens or invalidates the investment thesis
• Communicate buy / sell recommendations clearly and persuasively to the Portfolio Manager and senior investment colleagues
• Collaborate with Temasek's global sector teams and broader investment network to test assumptions, share insights and leverage differentiated industry knowledge

• Passion for public equity investing, with a strong desire to develop as an investor rather than solely as a sector specialist
• Excellent analytical skills and the ability to synthesise complex quantitative and qualitative information, weigh conflicting evidence and reduce it to a small number of decision-relevant insights
• Strong commercial judgement and curiosity about how businesses create and sustain competitive advantage, pricing power and attractive returns on capital
• Intellectual independence and the confidence to form views that differ from consensus when supported by evidence
• Humility, resilience and willingness to be wrong; able to recognise mistakes, incorporate new information quickly and change a view when the thesis changes
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to defend an investment recommendation clearly and persuasively
• Proactive self-starter who can independently direct research, prioritise the highest-value questions and operate without constant supervision
• Collaborative team-player who enjoys healthy debate, challenges others constructively and is accountable for the quality of their work
• Strong financial modelling and valuation skills; familiarity with Bloomberg including API (Excel formula) and proficiency in PowerPoint

Requirements

• Typically 6-8 years of relevant full-time experience in public equities, equity research or another investment role; flexibility for exceptional candidates
• Prior experience covering Information Technology and/or Consumer is preferred; exceptional investors from adjacent sectors may also be considered if they can broaden coverage
• Potential experience not limited to, but could include:
  • Buy side investment analysts with demonstrated stock-picking responsibility
  • Sell side equity research analysts
  • Investment banking analyst with a passion for public equities
• Bachelor or master's degree holders from majors related to finance/accounting/business administration are preferred.
