Job Introduction
The Efficiency and Automation team is a multi-disciplinary team responsible for streamlining business processes, reducing administrative burden and enhancing operational efficiency across the Bank. Through a combination of process automation, intelligent automation, agentic workflows and Generative AI, the team delivers frequent, high-impact improvements that enable colleagues to focus more time on value-adding activities and customer service.
As automation technologies continue to evolve, the team is expanding its use of Artificial Intelligence, Agentic Automation and Generative AI capabilities to automate increasingly complex processes, enhance decision-making and improve employee and customer experiences.
The Bank's strategy is centred around delivering operational efficiencies that create capacity to support increased business volumes and profitability, while improving customer satisfaction and outcomes. The Efficiency and Automation team supports this strategy by identifying and delivering small, frequent improvements that drive measurable business value and accelerate digital transformation.
Main Responsibilities
As an Intelligent Automation and AI Developer, you will play a pivotal role in driving automation excellence across Handelsbanken. Leveraging your expertise in UiPath, Agentic Automation and Generative AI technologies, you will support the design, delivery and optimisation of intelligent automation solutions that transform business operations and enhance customer value.

Main Responsibilities
As an Intelligent Automation and AI Developer, you will play a pivotal role in driving automation excellence across Handelsbanken. Leveraging your expertise in UiPath, Agentic Automation and Generative AI technologies, you will support the design, delivery and optimisation of intelligent automation solutions that transform business operations and enhance customer value.
- Be responsible for the end-to-end development lifecycle of automation and AI-enabled solutions, including requirements gathering, solution design, development, testing, deployment and ongoing support.
- Design, develop and maintain scalable automation solutions using UiPath, and other automation technologies, adhering to engineering best practices.
- Build Agentic Automation solutions that utilise AI agents, workflow orchestration, decision intelligence and human-in-the-loop interactions to automate complex business processes.
- Develop and integrate Generative AI capabilities into business workflows using the Bank's approved on-premise AI platform and enterprise AI services.
- Design and develop AI-powered chatbots, digital assistants and conversational interfaces that enhance colleague and customer experiences.
- Participate in technical design sessions, peer reviews and architecture discussions to ensure robust, scalable and maintainable solutions.
- Support backlog refinement and technical prioritisation activities to ensure efficient delivery of automation and AI initiatives.
- Apply best practice approaches to security, resilience, exception handling, governance and operational support.
- Integrate intelligent automation solutions with internal and external applications through APIs and enterprise services.
- Provide support, maintenance and continuous improvement for existing automation, AI and conversational solutions.
- Identify opportunities to leverage automation, AI and orchestration technologies to create measurable operational efficiencies and enhance customer outcomes.
- Contribute to backlog refinement and sprint planning, stand-ups and retrospectives
- Automation project delivery with focus on timelines, scalability, and value realisation
- Reinforce Agile ways of working, using pair programming, DORA insights and best practices to help to foster an environment of continuous improvement within the team
- Provide training and support to end users
- Stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements in RPA technologies and best practice

- Proven experience delivering enterprise automation solutions using UiPath and/or other leading automation platforms.
- Experience designing, developing and supporting end-to-end automation and AI solutions using Python, C#, SQL, JavaScript and .NET technologies.
- Experience building dynamic forms, workflow applications and intelligent process automation solutions.
- Experience designing and implementing Agentic Automation solutions, including AI agents, orchestration frameworks, decision workflows and human-in-the-loop processes.
- Experience integrating Generative AI capabilities into enterprise applications and automation workflows.
- Experience developing and deploying AI-powered chatbots, virtual assistants or conversational AI solutions.
- Experience working with Large Language Models (LLMs), prompt engineering, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and AI-powered process automation.
- Experience developing secure AI-enabled solutions within regulated or risk-controlled environments.
- Working knowledge of REST APIs, JSON handling, authentication methods and enterprise integration patterns.
- Demonstrable experience working within Lean-Agile development and delivery frameworks.
- Strong understanding of scalable solution architecture, software engineering principles and automation design patterns.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to simplify and automate complex business processes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to analyse, articulate and present complex issues clearly and concisely.
- Experience with vector databases, semantic search and AI orchestration frameworks.
- Knowledge of banking, financial services or other highly regulated industries.
- Relevant UiPath, AI, automation or cloud certifications.
