Morgan Stanley’s Singapore salaries: the reality

If you’re looking for an investment banking job in Singapore, Morgan Stanley is likely to be one of your best bets right now, especially if you work in equity capital markets. The US bank is ranked the number one bookrunner for Asia Pacific (ex-Japan) ECM so far this year, according to Dealogic data.

But while getting a front-office investment banking role at Morgan Stanley in Singapore is likely to be a good career move, how much might the bank pay you once you come on board?

To give you an approximation of Morgan Stanley’s Singapore salaries in IB, we reviewed self-reported Glassdoor salary numbers for Morgan Stanley across the three seniority levels that the website has sufficient data for: analyst, associate, and vice president.

IB base pay at Morgan Stanley in Singapore obviously varies from banker to banker and according to individual performance, so the figures in the table below should be seen as approximate and general guidance. Moreover, we only reviewed Glassdoor’s high-range annual salaries (i.e. for top performers) at Morgan Stanley, because they better reflect the earnings of front-office investment bankers, who are typically paid more than their peers in other functions. The figures do not apply to non-IB staff.

The approximate Glassdoor numbers suggest that analyst-level investment bankers at Morgan Stanley in Singapore can expect to earn annual base salaries of about S$120k a year on average, although this would vary depending on whether they are first, second, or third-year analysts.

Front-office Morgan Stanley salaries for associates within the firm’s Singapore investment bank are in the region of S$168k, according to the numbers that Morgan Stanley staff have self-reported to Glassdoor.

Senior vice presidents in IB jobs at Morgan Stanley in Singapore earn around S$290k a year, according to the Glassdoor estimates.
