Our client is a large, privately held, Singapore-headquartered resource-based manufacturing and trading group looking to hire a senior in-house tax professional to lead the tax function for one of its business groups.
This is a hands-on senior tax mandate sitting close to the business, covering international tax, transfer pricing, and cross-border structuring across a complex global manufacturing and trading footprint. The role would suit a technical tax operator who wants genuine structuring work, direct impact on the group's effective tax rate, and real autonomy, rather than a layered leadership seat.
Responsibilities for the senior tax mandate:
- Own the full spectrum of tax matters for one of the group's business groups, operating as a hands-on individual contributor.
- Lead international tax planning, tax optimisation and structuring across HQ and trading-hub models.
- Drive effective tax rate (ETR) improvement through tax structuring initiatives across a multi-jurisdiction footprint.
- Manage transfer pricing end to end, including documentation, policy implementation, and intercompany arrangements.
- Handle tax controversy, including transfer pricing disputes and dealings with tax authorities.
- Advise the business on cross-border transactions, trading flows, and new business initiatives from a tax perspective.
- Ensure compliance across direct and indirect tax obligations in the jurisdictions where the business group operates.
- Partner with finance, treasury, legal and commercial teams to support broader group tax objectives.
- Strengthen tax processes, controls and governance as the business group continues to scale.
Requirements for the senior tax mandate:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, law, economics or a related field; professional tax or accounting qualification preferred.
- Strong international tax and transfer pricing expertise, ideally gained within trading, manufacturing, commodities or complex cross-border multinational environments.
- A demonstrable track record of driving ETR through tax structuring, with sizable and measurable outcomes.
- Hands-on experience handling tax controversy, particularly in transfer pricing.
- Comfortable operating as an individual contributor and managing detailed tax matters directly.
- Strong technical foundation across both direct and indirect taxation, preferably Big 4 trained.
- Exposure to HQ, trading-hub or regional structuring models would be strongly preferred.
- Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to translate tax technical matters into business impact.
- Detail-oriented, pragmatic, and motivated by technical ownership and structuring impact rather than title alone.
