Two senior equities traders are leaving Citi as the bank cuts MDs
As we reported last week, the markets redundancies Citi announced in late July are now coming to fruition in London as staff put at risk previously come to the end of notice periods. It's therefore slowly becoming apparent who's going.
Insiders say those leaving including two of Citi's longer-serving traders in London - Altug Hamzalioglu and Stuart Perowne.
Hamzalioglu was at Citi for 18 years after joining as a graduate in 2006. He was latterly a senior eqiuty derivatives trader on the corporate desk, and left for personal reasons. Perowne joined Citi in 2009, according to the FCA register, and was a 'strategic equities' trader.
Citi declined to comment on the exits. Headhunters say the bank is taking out around seven managing directors (MDs) from its European equities business. The other leavers include Jonathan Stubbs, a European equity strategist, James Harris, head of programme trading and electronic execution and EMEA head of prime finance and delta 1 sales, and Dave Crawley, a managing director in research sales.
