Deutsche Bank trader takes promotion to move to UBS in high-(job)-security role

Bharat Gupta joined UBS in London yesterday as head of the bank’s Euro high yield trading team. He joined the firm from Deutsche Bank in the city, where he spent over six years on the bank’s high yield credit desk, most recently as a director. He was at NatWest before that.

High yield trading a pretty safe place to be right now. The trends that have put other sales & trading jobs at risk – namely electronification and standardisation – are struggling to put a dent into high-yield products. That, in combination with low general liquidity and the usually bespoke risk profile of buyers, means that traders are still needed to close deals in the old-fashioned way.
