Inside the new Goldman Sachs UK office that might hire 600 people

Goldman Sachs' Birmingham office has been long in the gestation. The US bank first announced that it was setting up in the British city in 2021, and has since been adding engineers, lawyers, accountants and others. Goldman now employs 400 people in Birmingham, but until this week they were in a temporary office.

Now, however, Goldman has moved into its permanent Birmingham home. Photos of the new location were released today and are shown below.

When it signed the lease for the Centenary Way office in 2022, Goldman said it would have "optionality" to employ 1,000 people there. It's not clear whether this is still the intention. At the moment, the firm is advertising 33 jobs there, which looks more like replacement hiring than growth.

If Goldman does intend to grow in Birmingham, it may need to buy some more picnic benches. Unless the British weather prevents outside dining.
