JPMorgan promoted some people who might have moved to Citi

There are people at JPMorgan who might still move to Citi. These people are particularly understood to be in JPMorgan's equity capital markets (ECM) team. We understand that JPMorgan has quietly rewarded them with some promotions.

JPMorgan declined to comment for this article, but various desirable people in its equity capital markets business have been promoted.

They include, Amanda Sharman, who has long rumoured to be on Vis Raghavan's shopping list and who's been at JPMorgan for nearly 12 years. Sharman, who is an executive director at the bank, was working in EMEA ECM execution. Now she's JPMorgan's head of EMEA ECM execution.

JPMorgan also promoted Josh Sutton as head of CEEMEA ECM, Alex Gaudy as head of French and Belgian ECM, and Jessica Murray as a UK ECM technology lead. All four are in EMEA.

As we reported in May, Citi is also thought to have its eye on Ashish Jhajharia, Virginie de Grivel Nigam and Ina De from JPMorgan. De retired from JPMorgan in February and may yet resurface at Citi soon. Dan Darley in infrastructure finance is also thought to be on the list. Infrastructure banker Vlad Ivanov moved already.

Citi likes to hire from JPMorgan because both Vis Raghavan, head of its investment bank and Achtinya Mangla, head of its capital markets business worked for JPMorgan before they joined. Raghavan and Mangla are both ECM bankers by trade. Many of Citi's legacy ECM leaders have left since their new bosses arrived. There are unconfirmed suggestions that the non-solicitation clauses in the contracts of some of Citi's recent hires from JPMorgan will soon expire, making it easier for Citi to poach further JPMorgan people if it wants to.

It's thought that many of those promoted were already doing their new jobs in all but name.
