Point72 hires ex-Goldman Sachs MD and technology fellow from JPMorgan

Steve Cohen's hedge fund Point72 appears to like tech fellows from Goldman Sachs. Back in September, the fund brought in ex-Goldman Sachs partner and tech fellow, Ilya Gaysinskiy, as its CTO. Now, another ex-tech fellow is joining him.

Rahul Garde has joined Point72 as its head of platform infrastructure, based in the US. He left Goldman Sachs back in November 2023 however, and has spent the past 15 months as an MD at JPMorgan in New Jersey in an undisclosed capacity. 

Garde spent 15 years at Goldman before that, most recently serving as an MD and global co-head of consumer deposits engineering. He joined the firm as a graduate, achieved his tech fellowship after 12 years, then was promoted to MD just six months after that. 

Point72 has been hiring Goldman MDs that aren't tech fellows too. Vladimir Zhukov, formerly Goldman's global head of data science and machine learning, joined the hedge fund as its head of technology for AI, data and machine learning. He also left the bank a while ago, but opted for a stint at a fintech rather than a rival bank.
