Sources say the bank has lost two of its senior G10 FX traders, one in London and one in Sydney, Australia.
John Nihill, an FX trader who's been with the bank since 2015 is understood to have quit in Sydney. It's not clear where he's going next, but a hedge fund is rumoured to have hired him. Nihill is thought to have been one of Citi's big revenue earners in APAC.
In London, Citi is understood to have lost Angus Yard, a VP level FX trader who'd been there since 2018. Yard's destination is unclear. So is the reason behind his disappearance.
The departures come after Citi also lost Giles Page, one of the longest serving managing directors on its London FX trading floor. Page, who was a popular figure internally, announced his retirement late last year and finally left last week.
Citi's FX business has been run by Flavio Figueiredo since 2023. Figueirido has a sales rather than a trading background. Some disgruntled traders suggests salespeople are favoured as a result.
Citi declined to comment on the exits.
