A second wave of spring internships is opening - for 2025
Spring internships, as everyone knows, are a practically non-negotiable first step in the UK for getting yourself an investment banking summer internship (and therefore, an investment banking job).

Unfortunately, the ship has mostly sailed for this season (the 2025 Easter holidays). "Mostly" because some spring internships are still open - and some are only just opening up now in the new year.
The most notable part of this second wave is Barclays, which only just opened the majority of its “discovery programs” yesterday. There are around two dozen programs on offer – mostly in Canary Wharf, although there are some in Glasgow and the bank’s IT hub in Radbroke Hall. All the main opportunities, such as in capital markets, sales & trading, and M&A, among others are there.
There are some other smaller shops still open or opening up, too. Hedge fund Schroder’s spring insight program is opening next week, on the 13th. Boutique bank PJT Partners currently has insight programs open for women and black candidates. Electronic trading firm Jane Street has an insight program open, too.
Most spring internships have now been closed for a while in the UK, however. Bank of America, Deutsche Bank, UBS, and JPMorgan all closed their application windows back in November; BNP Paribas and HSBC closed their application windows in December. Citi’s closed a bit more recently (last week).
